  • TIM SMITH

    TIM SMITH President, Board Director

    Tim co-founded Carolon Capital with the vision of creating a unique financial services firm - one that applies a high-touch partnership mentality across a unique breadth of service offerings. His experience spans private equity, financial services and asset management. Tim brings a unique entrepreneurial attitude to Carolon's clients and he combines it with a highly technical approach.

    Tim was most recently the CEO of Conversus Capital, L.P., a publicly traded company which specialized in the management of third party private equity funds. Tim helped found Conversus and was a driving force behind its $1.9 billion IPO. He subsequently managed all facets of Conversus' strategic, operations, finance, treasury and investor relations activities.

    Prior to Conversus, Tim was an executive with Bank of America as well as the Instinet Group and he worked in public accounting with two of the "Big Four", where he specialized in the banking, insurance and asset management sectors. He is a Certified Public Accountant and has a Bachelor of Science in Accounting degree from the University of Virginia as well as a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Richmond.

    Tim has served as a guest lecturer at Stanford University and the University of Virginia, he has presented at numerous conferences on topics ranging from private equity to governance and he has been published in and interviewed by major news outlets in the U.S. and Europe.


  • ROGER BROOKES

    ROGER BROOKES Global Head of Sales and Marketing, Board Director

    Roger focuses on building the right relationships. Co-founding Carolon Capital with the desire to create a unique financial services firm, he builds on over twenty-five years in the business. For more than ten years he has applied his knowledge and skills as an investor relations and marketing executive specializing in the sale and distribution of alternative investment products. His core client constituencies consist of large and medium sized institutional investors, asset managers and wealth managers in the UK and Europe.

    Prior to co-founding Carolon, Roger was most recently the Head of Investor Relations for Conversus Capital, L.P., a publicly traded company which specialized in the management of third party private equity funds. Roger led the firm's engagement with shareholders and other market participants.

    Since 2003, and prior to his role at Conversus, Roger was a specialist sales executive of alternative investment products at various brokerage firms. These included LCF Edmond de Rothschild and Bear Stearns International where he focused on the marketing of alternative investment products including funds with strategies in private equity, real estate, commodities and EM risk. Prior to this time, Roger worked as an investment manager within banks including Bank Austria and Banco Santander.

    Roger qualified as an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers at London Guildhall University.


  • CATHY THOMAS

    CATHY THOMAS Sales

    Cathy has over 30 years’ experience within the financial services sector. Prior to joining Carolon Capital, Cathy supported the sales and marketing activities within the technology sector and was tasked with building relevant sales pipelines and brand awareness. Cathy previously worked at LCF Edmond de Rothschild as part of the Fixed Income team. Prior to Rothschild, she spent over ten years at Barclays Capital as a part of the UK Fixed Income Corporate Sales team focused on her core clients which included large pension funds and asset managers. Cathy also spent seven years at Hermes Investment Management within the treasury operations group and as the Portfolio Manager of the Corporate Bond and Index Linked Funds.

    Cathy has obtained her Associated Chartered Institute of Bankers Diploma and the Securities Institute Diploma.


  • DANIEL KHAN

    DANIEL KHAN Sales

    Daniel has a long history of building strong and trusted relationships with global and UK institutional investors and financial institutions. For the last 10 years he has combined his technical expertise and skills as a sales professional and relationship manager to distribute a range of traditional and alternative investment products and solutions. Prior to joining Carolon, Daniel was most recently Vice President, Sales and Client Relationship Manager at T. Rowe Price where he helped build their new UK and Ireland intermediary business. Daniel started his career at HSBC Global Asset Management where he focused on distributing hedge funds and long only strategies to financial institution clients including insurance, asset managers and fund of funds. He also worked with the European consultant relations, UK pension fund and Middle East sales teams during his time at HSBC.

    Daniel attended Edinburgh University where he has an MA Economic History and has completed his IMC.
